This candidate will manage a team of computational engineers to deploy informatics pipelines and visualization tools that seamlessly integrate with data capture systems. The ability to be flexible, and to work in a highly collaborative environment and an agile team first mind-set will be critical to success.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineers and business analysts (e.g. FTEs, contractors, professional services) to understand system requirements, deploy systems, and ensure that proper methods are used for data collection, analysis and reporting; compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines; align with best industry practices, standards, and guidelines
  • Develop requirements, define the minimal viable products, and create timelines and workflows that prioritize critical functionality in conjunction with key stakeholders
  • Interface with external vendors and our IT and informatics teams to research and propose solutions for potential integration using off-the-shelf tools or custom programming
  • Direct the implementation and customization of electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other scientific data capture and document management applications as determined with senior management review
  • Continue to evaluate, maintain, and direct improvements to the systems developed
  • Work with an existing team of IT professionals to develop, implement and maintain these systems
  • Create and communicate a multi-year lab architecture roadmap ensuring systems can flex and grow as required and align with the broader Sana architecture landscape
  • Supervise a team of computational architects and engineers to build/configure, deploy, and maintain informatics cloud infrastructure and analysis pipelines that are reproducible and reliable while following best practices in configuration management solutions and software engineering (e.g. version control, code review, tests, documentation, CI/CD)

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years directly related experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry 
  • Familiarity with Pharma/Biotech-appropriate cloud-based and non-cloud-based software solutions for LIMS, ELN, data and document management, and other development-appropriate systems to inform proposals
  • Experience with being the architect and deploying system solutions according to FAIR data principles in HPC and/or large-scale cloud storage environments
  • Proven track record of translating senior level research/scientific business requirements into operational strategies
  • Previous experience leading and implementing key strategic functional initiatives and activities
